The Raiders Head Coach Hunt Begins.

The Oakland Raiders have concluded their 3-13 season and are actively pursing a head coach that will hopefully bring the much needed spark back to Oakland. Some notable head coaches that are set to be interviewed are Eagles offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur, 49ers assistant coach Eric Mangini and the Raiders current interim head coach Tony Sparano,

Shurmur has spent the last two years as a coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles, but has had limited play call experience, due to head coach Chip Kelly taking on the play call responsibility. If hired this will be Shurmur’s first time as an NFL head coach. The Raiders have already requested permission from the Eagles to interview Shurmur.  

Mangini has head coach experience with the New York Jets from 2006-2008. Currently, Mangini is the 49ers tight end coach. The Raiders have already requested permission from the 49ers to interview Mangini.

Sparano was 3-9 after taking over the Raiders in the 2014 season when Dennis Allen was fired for a 0-4 start. Sparano has earned the support from many of the players and is indicating he wants to fight to have the interim title removed from his coaching title and be the head coach of the Raiders.   

Hopefully the Raiders will logically pursue the best candidate that can bring some luster back to the Silver and Black.  

A Lack of Consistency and Momentum Plagued Oakland’s 2014 Season.

The Raiders disappointing season finally came to a close tonight with another tragic loss to the Denver Broncos. Since general manager Reggie McKenzie took the helm, Oakland has only won 11 games in three seasons. Prior to McKenzie taking over, Oakland won 16 games in the prior two season. Interim head coach Tony Sparano finessed 3-9 this season with zero road game wins. The Raiders will have the No. 4 pick in the draft.

Momentum and consistency were key components the Raiders lacked this season. For the third time after an Oakland win, the Raiders fell to defeat in their following week game and could not keep the spark alive. Oakland needs to focus on finding significant leadership in order to obtain success next season.

It’s going to be another offseason and another coaching search for the Raiders. Raiders owner Mark Davis has indicated he will begin looking for a new head coach immediately, and that all members of the Raiders organization will be evaluated.

The Raiders Quest for a New Head Coach.

Raiders owner Mark Davis has confirmed he plans to start interviewing for a new Raiders head coach as quickly as possible. Davis indicated he plans to take a more hands on approach this time around and wants to begin as soon as next Monday.

Davis also confirmed that McKenzie will be assisting with finding a new head coach, but also noted that everyone in the Raiders organization will be evaluated, due to Oakland reaching its third consecutive season with 12 losses. Davis would not confirm any coaches he will be actively pursuing.

 

  

Oakland Raiders Offensive Tackle Donates Entire Check to a Much Deserved Fan.

The Raiders football season is coming to an end and in a couple of weeks, I’m sure there will be some drastic coaching and admin changes that will hopefully positively impact the Raiders. The Raiders season has been far from successful; however, the story of Oakland’s offensive tackle Menelik Watson donating his game day pay check to 4-year old Ave Urrea, makes the Raiders the biggest NFL winners of the season in my book.

4-year old Ava Urrea, was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, which is a rare congenital heart defect in which the left ventricle of the heart is underdeveloped. Due to Ava’s condition, she has undergone 14 procedures. Ava is a diehard Raiders fan and through the Touchdown Dreams Program was able to spend game day Sunday with the Raiders and was also named team captain of the Raiders for the day.

Not only was Ava fortunate enough to watch her team upset the Buffalo Bills 26-24 on Sunday, but she also stole the heart of Raiders offensive tackle Menelik Watson, who graciously donated his $36,000 game day check to Ava. Watson did this so that Ave could have the greatest holiday possible.

This year’s NFL season has been filled with high attention media coverage of NFL players and domestic violence issues and other stories plagued with negativity towards the NFL and its players. Menelik Watson is defying these negative stories with his compassion, generosity and heroism. You’re a true Raider Menelik.   

Raiders Suffer 10th Straight Road Loss.

Did you know that this is the Raiders 10th straight road loss and that they have not won back-to-back games since Weeks 7 and 8 of the 2012 season? 2012! This is outrageous! Al Davis has to be vomiting in his grave over this outrageous spectacle. I’m tired of critics blaming the players. I feel the Raiders have a multitude of talent, but are plagued with poor leadership that is not providing them with adequate guidance for excellence. Mark Davis needs to stop trying to dazzle Houston and Los Angeles with how great it would be for the Raiders to relocate and start focusing on fixing the asinine incompetent coaching staff. And yes, I’m talking about you Reggie McKenzie. A broken house is still a broken house and it doesn’t matter what city it’s in.
